Here we are at the beginning of a new era at The Ring of Bells, one that we are all very excited about. There is a great opportunity for us to continue and develop the legacy that Dave and I started. We gave him a fantastic sendoff  Sunday night, we wish him well and look forward to seeing him on the other side of the bar sometime soon!


Dave leaves a skilled team in place to pick up the baton:

Tom Leach will be taking on the mantle of  Head Chef, he is driven, passionate and dedicated to both The Ring Of Bells and village life here in Cheriton Fitzpaine. Tom being a Bakers son, started learning his craft from a young age, keep your eyes peeled for delicious baked goodies coming soon. He graduated from Exeter Catering College with flying colours, completed a work experience stint at Crediton butchers, A.J Cox and a full time position at busy foodie pub The Oddfellows Exmouth. Tom has been with us since March 2018 and has been in charge of our cracking Sunday lunches since his arrival. He has proved himself to be a such an asset to The Ringers team,  learnt a huge amount from Dave in the past year and  has a real feel for top notch food. Tom is a lovely easy going chap, a great team player and not too shabby at pouring a pint either!

Bea Griffiths will be Tom’s trusted Sous Chef, having worked together for the past year they have formed a great working relationship and make a really complementary team.  Super fit, Ultra Marathon runner Bea, ran delightful supper clubs and an outside catering company, she is in charge of creating and delivering our ever popular Auberge menus on Tuesday evenings. Over the last 18 months she has done a tremendous job, for which we are very grateful and has developed a real following. Bea loves the buzz in the kitchen and has always had a love of food;  good quality ingredients, cooked with love and flare is her motto. Although where she gets her energy for those Ultra Marathons…..don’t challenge her to a race is all we’re saying.

As the famous song lyric goes 3 is the magic number, and we are currently advertising for a talented and dedicated pastry chef to join our team. We’re hoping to create some seriously naughty puddings!! To create a more collaborative team space and accommodate an imminent arrival we had to make a little extra room……
